Health & Social Care Information Centre

We collect data from a range of health and care organisations, analyse it and publish it in a range of easily accessible formats to help commissioners make better decisions about care and local providers improve their health care services. We also support academics, researchers, regulators and policymakers in their work.

In April 2013 the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) will be established as a new Executive Non-Departmental Public Body (ENDPB). This new organisation will incorporate functions from the existing HSCIC, IT systems delivery functions currently undertaken by NHS Connecting for Health and Strategic Health Authority informatics functions.  

Our vision

It is our vision to deliver maximum value from our health, public health and social care data as a publicly-owned national asset used for a wide range of secondary purposes, such as policy development, planning and commissioning, service improvement, research, public accountability and transparency.
