Next Web es un espacio donde en estos más de 10 años se ha recopilado y analizado el desarrollo de la web y el modo en el que el conjunto de tecnologías emergentes que están haciendo posible internet están influyendo en el desarrollo de una vida socio-digital feliz, la construcción de la identidad digital de las personas y las organizaciones y la aceleración de los procesos sociales de aprendizaje. Todo ello gracias al ejercicio de la sociabilidad simultánea y al acceso a la información e inteligencia ubicuas.

Infografía realizada por Intac que resume algunas de las principales tendencias sobre Internet y su consumo en 2020. Entre las predicciones de esta infografía se estima que dentro en 2020, el número de personas que tienen acceso a Internet podría multiplicarse casi por 3, hasta alcanzar los 5.000 millones. Actualmente son algo más de 1.800 millones. Además,en los próximos años habrá más objetos conectados a la Red que ordenadores e Internet estará más disperso geográficamente y habrá más servicios en la nube. Interesante entrevista de The New York Times a Reid Hoffman, uno de los creadores de LinkedIn, en la que hace una análisis prospectivo acerca de Internet desde el plano técnico y financiero: "He senses that a new Web is stirring. In the same way that social media redefined the Internet, he sees another tectonic shift on the horizon. This one, he believes, will be driven by data. Mr. Hoffman has been investing in companies that are data-driven or starting to work with data in interesting ways"

Interesante artículo en el que se analiza la repercusión que pueden tener las estrategias basadas en datos en medios de comunicación: McKinsey offers up five areas to consider: Data is no longer proprietary. Rather, it is undergoing “radical transparency.” Consider the implications for your business.
Big data allows you test all your decisions and conduct experiments. Consider how that could change the way you compete.
Big data allows widespread, real-time customisation. Could this be a game changer in your business? The answer for newspapers is clearly ‘yes’ on this. We’re seeing the impact of it already.
Big data can augment or even replace management, or some managerial decisions. (Bring it!)

The Guardian analiza un estudio de Ofcom en el que se indica que cada ciudadano descarga 17 Gb al mes (se ciñe al territorio británico). Interesante el ascenso del consumo de vídeo: "Internet service providers confirmed that customers' data demands have increased dramatically as people have begun to adopt video catchup services and "cloud" services such as YouTube, Flickr and Facebook".
