In Next Web people explore and discuss on opportunities related to web 2.0, semantic web and semantic technologies applied to the web, Web 3.0 and, in general, evolution and future of the Internet.
The community discusses the future of the web and the way in which the set of technologies enabling internet will influence the development of the socio-digital life, the building of the digital identity of people and organizations, and the acceleration of learning social processes. All thanks to the exercise of simultaneous sociability and access to ubiquitous information and intelligence.
Companies, venture capitalists, institutions, researchers, professors, start-ups, bloggers, advanced internet users, internet activists and, on the whole, anybody who believes in the technology power of social transformation, have their new space in Next Web, a community promoted by the GNOSS Team.

Elaborada por Search Engine Journal, esta infografía muestra el espectacular crecimiento y evolución de las redes sociales desde sus comienzos hace poco más de 5 años. En ella se refleja el desarrollo que han tenido las redes sociales y otros servicios, como YouTube o Wikipedia, que también incorporan características colaborativas propias de la web 2.0. Se ve la comparación entre la evolución de Facebook, Twitter y, para contrastar, MySpace.Facebook es el rey indiscutible pero hay otras plataformas que siguen su estela, como Twitter, LinkedIn o Flicrk.También queda patente la importancia de plataformas locales, como la brasileña Orkut o la China Qzone.

Los fundadores de YouTube, Chad Hurley y Steve Chen (compañía AVOS), han adquirido Delicious: "The deal follows months of speculation about the fate of Delicious, which Yahoo has been actively looking to sell (or “sunset,” according to a now infamous presentation) since December. Last month it was rumored that Yahoo had sold Delicious for $5 million, a fraction of the price it reportedly paid for the startup back in 2005, though terms of the AVOS deal have not been disclosed"

El entonces primer ministro británico, Gordon Brown, cuenta su visión acerca de el futuro digital de los británicos. Tanto el Gobierno del Reino Unido como el de Estados Unidos focalizan gran parte de sus esfuerzos en poner sus datos públicos a disposición de la sociedad a través de Internet ( data.gov.uk y data.gov respectivamente). Para lograrlo será clave la iniciativa Linked Open Data (LOD - Datos Abiertos Enlazados)
También en Europa ya hay una directiva de la Comisión para acercar los datos públicos a los ciudadanos (en este caso se trata de información relacionada con el medio ambiente).
